Scenic Pend Oreille Train resumes embarking passengers

A trip down memory lane will resound with the clickety-clack of the railways when the Scenic Pend Oreille River Train starts rolling down the tracks here Aug. 12. Tickets are now available online at www.sporttrainrides. com. The 24-mile round trip from Newport to Dalkena, Wash. and back again will start at 110 W. Pine St. in Newport and take about 90 minutes to complete. Rides are available Aug. 12-13 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. both days. The next available rides take place Aug. 26-27, Sept. 30, Oct. 1, Oct. 7-8, and Oct. 14-15 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p,m. The Oct. 14-15 rides will be Halloween-themed and include dressing up in costumes, according to the program website. JULY 12, 2017 Each passenger car is equipped with a restroom, but the enclosed cars do not have air conditioning. Food will not be sold on the train, but the website said, ?There is a snack bar at the station grounds where you can purchase hamburgers and hot dogs.
